Build a senior center for 500 South Asian seniors

We are pleased to share an update on the South Asian Community Home (SACH) Center and the impact your support continues to have on the older adults we serve. Your generosity is helping us create a space where seniors can gather, celebrate, and stay connected to their community.

The renovations at the South Asian Community Home (SACH) Center are helping us make the space a more welcoming place for older adults to gather. Since the first phase was completed, we have continued to host programs and celebrations there, giving seniors opportunities to spend time with friends, take part in familiar traditions, and feel connected to their community.

A highlight was our Raksha Bandhan celebration, when Mayor Zohran Mamdani joined our seniors. It was a joyful day, and a reminder of what we hope the completed SACH Center will offer every day: a place where older adults feel at home and can share their culture with others.

That same sense of community is guiding India Home’s work beyond the SACH Center. In July, we opened a new senior center in Hicksville, bringing our programs back to Long Island after more than a decade. We are also preparing to open our Smart Food Pantry, which will make fresh and culturally familiar groceries more accessible to the people we serve.

We’re grateful for your support as we continue building toward the full vision for the SACH Center. We look forward to sharing more progress and welcoming even more community members into the space.
