Dear Valued Partner,
This quarter at SECHILD was shaped by the quiet, everyday work of providing a stable home for children living with severe cerebral palsy. For the children in our care, safety, routine, and gentle attention are essential. Many depend entirely on others for feeding, hygiene, and comfort. With your support, SECHILD continues to be a place where these children are cared for with patience, respect, and love.
1. Home-Based Care and Therapy
Care and therapy services continued consistently throughout the quarter. Children received therapy sessions twice a week, delivered within the familiarity of their home environment. For children with severe cerebral palsy, being comfortable and emotionally settled during therapy is just as important as the exercises themselves.
Our care approach includes:
Physiotherapy focused on easing tension and improving physical comfort
Occupational and expressive activities that support awareness, interaction, and emotional connection
Beyond therapy, children were supported with daily feeding, bathing, medical monitoring, and close supervision. The home environment remains calm and structured, helping children feel secure and protected.
2. Welcoming New Children and Honoring One Life Lost
During this reporting period, five new children were admitted into our residential care. Most came from families facing extreme financial hardship and limited access to specialized support. At SECHILD, they were gently introduced into routine care, allowing time to build trust with caregivers and adapt to their new environment.
Sadly, we also lost one child this quarter. This loss was deeply felt by our team, as every child in our care becomes part of our extended family. We remember this child with compassion and remain committed to ensuring that every child receives comfort, dignity, and attentive care throughout their time with us.
3. Caregiver Support and Staff Development
Caregiver support remained an important focus. Parents and caregivers were guided on safe feeding practices, positioning, and daily care routines to help them better support their children when at home or during visits.
To strengthen care delivery, we also welcomed one new caregiver to our team this quarter. This addition has helped improve caregiver-to-child attention and ensured continuity of care within the home.

Strengthening caregiver capacity and staff well-being
Advocating for improved systems of care for children with cerebral palsy in Nigeria
Gratitude
At SECHILD, care is measured in moments steady hands during feeding, calm reassurance during difficult days, and the trust built between a child and caregiver. These moments are made possible because of your generosity.
Thank you for helping us provide not just services, but a true home for children with cerebral palsy who need it most. Your support continues to make compassion tangible.
