Challenge

Most of the people with physical disability, blindness, low vision, multiple disability and intellectual disability are looked after by their family members. The reflection from the FGD is that a greater majority of People with disability are in need of assistance for activities of daily living. It is observed that the type of assistive devices needed most by People with disability of differs from that needed most by People with disability based on the prevalent disability type.

Solution

Disability is seen as a political and social issue, and the goal of this model is to be more inclusive and recognize the prevalence of disability within our societies. This means looking closely at the ablest social institutions and infrastructures present within society and attempting to address these manmade challenges posed by people with disabilities. This approach recognizes the social stigma around disabilities and recognizes people with disabilities as an independent lifestyle.

Long-Term Impact

The project's intended impact is that "Youths with disabilities and underrepresented from remote areas, women, children and those with multiple and/or invisible disabilities, are aware of their rights and protection on equality and non-discrimination according to laws, policies and plans, have attained inclusive economic empowerment, and are capacitated to meaningfully contribute in the communities and emphasized to meaningful participation. Th project will work closely with key duty bearers .
