Empowering Foster Girls and Teens in Puerto Rico

I am honored to share the latest impact updates from Hogares Teresa Toda. Thanks to your generosity, 2025 was a year of growth, stability, and profound transformation for the 35 girls in our care. Our team remained fully aligned with traumainformed standards, ensuring safe, structured, and compassionate support for each participant. 

Throughout the year, every girl received comprehensive pediatric evaluations, mentalhealth services, and individualized psychological and socialwork interventions. These efforts helped strengthen emotional regulation, coping skills, and daily adaptation—critical steps for girls recovering from trauma. 

Academically, the results were extraordinary: 100% of participants were promoted to the next grade, with 88% maintaining averages of 80% or higher. Several celebrated important milestones, including kindergarten, sixthgrade, and eighthgrade graduations. Four students earned Honor Roll recognition, and three received special distinctions, clear evidence of their resilience and dedication. 

Our recreational and community programming remained active, ensuring that every girl benefited from safe, engaging activities that strengthened social skills and emotional wellbeing. Even when staffing changes occurred, continuity was protected by acting quickly to ensure program stability. 

Operationally, the organization strengthened transportation capacity, riskmanagement protocols, and digital medical record systems, ensuring improved safety, coordination, and oversight. Satisfaction levels remained exceptionally high, with 91% of participants and 100% of stakeholders reporting positive experiences.
