Comprehensive care and support of orphaned or abandoned children living with HIV/AIDS and finding ways to support by creating a system of care givers (people living with HIV/AIDS) who then mitigate orphan hood.
India has the third largest population infected by HIV in the world, with the maximum burden falling among key populations within India. While several vertical programs for HIV/AIDS exist, the preventive and primary health care systems are weak, fragmented, and not customer centric. The system is also inadequately adapted to meet the dual burden of diseases due to COVID pandemic. Freedom Foundation started focusing on OVC in the context of HIV/AIDS way back in 1996.
The foundation has several hundreds of children registered with the organization; the foundation reaches out to approx. 150 children annually. The Foundation has specialized facilities at Bangalore and Hyderabad that care for these children. The residential care program aims to provide a protected residential environment, wholesome nutrition, healthcare, education & livelihood to HIV infected orphaned children. The HIV +ve community children and their care takers are also taken care of.
