In October 2026, we opened The Water Will Carry Us, a photography exhibition documenting our Cultural Heritage Restoration Project in the High Atlas. We are presenting it in partnership with Noujoum, for the 11th edition of Harvest Festival Marrakech. It opened on 24 October in the Marrakech medina and runs until late November. The exhibition brings the restoration work from the mountains into the city, giving wider audiences a window into cultural landscapes that High Atlas communities are rebuilding after the 2023 Al Haouz earthquake.
The images follow each structure from damage to restoration. At the heart of the exhibition is the project’s first complete restoration: the traditional watermill of Arg, rebuilt with the Tighza Association, from its stone masonry to its water-driven mechanism. It is shown alongside photographs of the agricultural terraces of Amskrajen, where 59 terraces are nearing completion. The exhibition also features the azibs of Tikhfist, nomadic shelters in high-elevation communal pastures. Together, these images show the knowledge, craftsmanship and community labour that keep this heritage alive.
We see the exhibition not as an endpoint but as a first step in sharing the project with wider audiences, and a larger edition in fall 2027 will show the full portfolio of restored structures.
We want to thank you for your continued support in making these endeavours successful.
