Dear Friends and Donors,
This month, participants in our Young Women’s Leadership Workshop tackled a global challenge particularly relevant in Myanmar: fake news.
Beginning with an exploration of the expansion of social media’s reach and influence in the country, the group worked to identify and practice critical reading and media analysis skills. They studied examples of news articles shared on Myanmar Facebook and discussed how online content can influence real world actions.
Media literacy has had a critical impact on security, conflict, and stability in Myanmar, with misinformation and rumor stoking long-standing ethnic and religious tensions. We are pleased to support these young women as they grow into confident and discerning leaders, and we look forward to the impact their leadership will have in their communities.
As always, we are indebted to you for your ongoing support. We look forward to sharing more as these young women continue their journey!
With gratitude,
Carolyn
