Summary

A promise was made to every girl that by 2030 she would live in a world of equal opportunity, where her dreams would not be limited by her gender, where education, sport, leadership, health, and economic opportunity would be within her reach. In 2027, we have just three years left to make that promise real. In April and August 2026, 1,000 girls from marginalized communities across coastal Kenya will step beyond the boundaries of their homesteads and onto the playing fields.

Challenge

Across coastal Kenya, girls face barriers that continue to limit their ability to reach their full potential. Many grow up with limited opportunities to participate in decisions affecting their education, health, livelihoods, and future aspirations. While girls have talent, ideas, and ambition, they often lack access to: Leadership opportunities Mentors and role models Skills development Safe spaces to learn and grow Networks that support their aspirations

Solution

In April 2027, Moving the Goalposts will bring together 1,000 adolescent girls and young women from Kilifi County and Kenya's coast for a transformational leadership camp. Participants will build confidence, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; explore careers with women role models; gain entrepreneurship, financial literacy, digital, and health education; strengthen teamwork and resilience through football; and design community action projects that address local challenges.

Long-Term Impact

Support through this project will help provide a life-changing residential leadership camp for 1,000 girls, strengthening their leadership, confidence, and life skills. It will expand access to mentors and professional networks, increase financial and digital literacy, and equip participants to become leaders and changemakers in their communities. Together, we will build a powerful network of young women committed to creating a more equal and inclusive future.
