Helps Community Rebuilding in Quake-affected Ya'an

One of Xintu trainee- Dr. Yaling Liao has received a grant from China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation for mental health promotion at 24 schools in Ya'an. It was a standardlized training session for school teachers in the Quake-affected Ya'an.

This is not a first Xintu trainee received grant after Xintu workshop for mental health promtion in Quake-affected Ya'an. One of proposals directly developed by the Xintu workshop received government support for implement the proposed plan for training of community workers in Yaan.

Xintu is believing local community and its organizations have potential and resources to solve their own problem with a support of capacity building. Xintu will continue to suuport local community organizations for mobilizing resources for solving their own problem. It is a only way the project can be sustained in a longer term.

Dr. Fei Long visited Yaan again for new partnership development with Yaan Vocational College on 14th June, 2014. There is an opporunity to be partership with Jiahua Eye Hospitial and Yaan Vocational College for a new project of better vision for the poor. Xintu is planning to pilot a sustainable model of eyeglass distribution system in rural Yaan and looking for local partnership in Yaan. Dr. Fei Long met with Deputy Diector of Yaan Vocational College- Dr. Xu Zhengyi and discussed the possibility of partnership for this new project. Dr. Fei LONG and Mr. Yin Wanping- Director of Jiahua Eye Hospital had visited Department of Optometry as well as two vision centers in the City of Yaan.

There is a possibility of partership among three parties to work togather for this new project. The detailed project plan needed to be developed and funding needed to be secured. We are all looking forward to this new opporunity and continue supporting Quake-affected community.
