Helping The Directors Serve Better

This report covers a broad spectrum of subject matter relating to the critical support that is extended to the Directors of Another Hope Children’s Ministries in a bid to ensure that they can diligently execute their jobs and related assignments. This would in turn ensure sustainability of the operations of the organisation’s services among the vulnerable populations of Uganda.

The past three months have been whirlwind of activity associated with the start of a new year which ranged from getting ready for a new academic year after a two-year break, training the kids at the organization in critical skills and basic education concepts, working with newly recruited staff members which includes intensive trainings. All these put a great deal of stress on the directors as they are time consuming as well see a strain on their resources in their bid to realize optimum output.

The resources extended to the directors were very pivotal in enabling them to send their own biological children in school at a time when the tuition was hiked due to the negative effects of the lockdown, take care of their own home at a period when they were too busy running the agency to spare time to engage in extra income generating activity, meet the medical needs of their family, some children at Another Hope and staff members and generally a piece of mind that ensures that they can give their best to the organization.

This has seen their performance dramatically increase at the organisation since they can still guarantee the safety and well-being of their family and dependents despite the high cost of living in Uganda at the moment.

The directors continually express their gratitude to their partners and friends whose commitment to spreading positive change around the World extends to their own well-being. This is true service beyond self and it goes a long way in preserving all the positive strides already realized.

It is tough as a parent when you are uncertain about the future of your children. It makes you extremely sad. This feeling was all too common for the Directors when they were unsure whether their children would ever attend school.  We would work hard to ensure that all children under Another Hope Children’s Ministries’ support do report to school only to return home to find our children unsure of when they would start school.

I (Deputy Director) , won’t forget that emotional moment when our daughter  asked me why they always go back to school later than their peers.. She went on to explain how they lag behind everybody in everything ranging from class work and extra-curricular activities. Sincerely speaking, I did not have an answer and before I knew it, tears were flowing because I could not hold them. We are so grateful to you all for the support you have given us. Because of your support, our children can report to school in time.

“Tubebaziza nnyo nyini era Mukama abawangaze” meaning We thank you so much and may God grant you along life.

Helping the Directors serve better was started to support the Directors’ needs of having a permanent home, to afford school for their children, plus making sure that they can have some income generating activities. The aim was to make sure that the Directors can settle and serve the children instead of looking for jobs outside of AHCM to help them get enough income to support themselves.

We are glad to say that so far, we have been able to move into our home. A lot has not been completed, but the house has been made safe to a certain extent to enable the directors to move in.

The feeling of not being able to worry about rent is so good, and the comfort of having a home brings joy beyond explanations. The children have the freedom to have their dog run around with no interruptions from offended neighbors.

Thanks so much to all that have made it possible that the Directors have a permanent home. May God richly bless you.

There is still a lot that needs to be done, but we can’t stop thanking God for the progress so far. We will forever be grateful.

Any one willing to support us so that we make our home more comfortable is highly welcomed, and thanks in advance for choosing to help the Directors serve better. May the good Lord answer your prayers.

As Directors (Daniel and Ruth Kasozi), we are responsible for overseeing the entire children’s ministry to ensure smoothly operating, safe and effective programs.

Despite the fact that we do recruit others to serve alongside us, we have realized that not everyone buys into the vision and mission of the ministry.

The Directors will recruit and train others to fill the gaps of social work, projects coordination, caretaking, and finance staff, those that teach God’s word, drivers and farm assistants. Yes, most of them do a great job supporting the Directors; however, the majority need close supervision. This means that the Directors would have limited time to go and look for a job to make funds to sustain themselves.

After advice from most of our friends to start a project that helps meet our major needs like having a place to call home as well as a stable income, we went ahead and set up a project on the GlobalGiving platform. Our friends, you have surprised us by the immense support you have given us. We are so grateful.  So far we have managed to:

  • Construct a house (which is in progress) We are finally going to have a place to call home
  • Pay our rent
  • Have our children in school
  • Start some income generating activities that are still in their infancy stage. But we believe that by the end of the year, they will be sustainable.
  •  Take care of ourselves as a couple
  • Improve our physical and mental health.
  • Plant lots of crops to ensure enough food for our family and have a surplus to sell

There are times we would not even know what to feed our children, or if they would attend school. We were much stressed as a couple which has strained our relationship.

With your support, we assure you that we will have time to support the children, families and communities God entrusted to us.  We have a sound mind, and we believe that our commitment will be solid as we will build a better supportive team to serve alongside us.

Thanks so much.

Note: The project to help the Directors serve better was estimated to cost USD 39,730 and so far USD 30,084 has been raised thanks to the generosity of our friends. Funds to complete the project are USD 9,646.  Please stand with us by either donating or sharing with others to help support the Directors serve better. Thanks so much and may God richly bless you.

With a high population growth rate and an increasing population in Uganda, the cost of living is increasing day by day especially in the capital city, major towns and Kampala suburbs. This has economic implications related with increased expenditure on transport, feeding, tuition, health care, accommodation among others. This calls for engagement in several income generating ventures in order to make ends meet. However, this comes along with the need for long hours of work, monitoring and supervision of these ventures bringing about fatigue, stress, depression and other health complications that affect one’s productivity; physically, mentally and emotionally.

With the meager salary, the directors go through the same circumstances mentioned above which affects their services to the vulnerable children, families and communities. In the bid for the directors to serve better, there was need for them to have their own place of residence and through your continued support, great progress has been registered with regard to the construction of their house and the following have been done.

  • Tiling of some rooms at the ground floor has been done successfully.
  • Electrical and plumbing work has been done and little is awaiting to get finished
  • The first phase of painting has also been done.

What to be done

  • Finishing Tiling
  • Finishing Electrical and Plumbing work
  • Starting on the fencing

We really appreciate your support towards this project for its progress has reduced the pressure on Directors to look for funds to finance their accommodation and constructing their own house at the same time. The relief has allowed Directors allocate more time to the children’s home and effectively managing the different projects. More progress in service delivery at Another Hope Children’s Ministries in 2021 because you choose to help Directors serve better
