At the start of 2023, some 108 million people worldwide had been driven from their homes as a result of conflict, violence or persecution.

Many displaced people live in areas with limited or no access to humanitarian aid, and where aid organisations struggle to access. This is where the need for assistance is greatest. And it is here that NRC works.

Despite the challenges, our 15,000 aid workers in 40 countries managed to provide life-saving assistance to more than 9.7 million people in 2023.

We work closely with those who have been displaced and the communities hosting them, so that we can provide the right help and maximise our use of resources. Many of our aid workers are themselves refugees or internally displaced people.

We are grateful for all the support we receive from private individuals, companies and institutional donors that enables us to help so many people.
