Besides small trading for income, women in Burkina Faso rural areas do not have income from the land which belongs to their men. Often, they have to take care of their family education and health care. Beehives do not take much space and the work is done by the bees. The income of 5 beehives is around 100 USdollars per years. Giving the opportunity to have hives and to be trained in beekeeping is a life saver for a woman.

The beehives provided to the woman will bring them extra income from the sale of the honey and wax. This extra income will help the women take care of the education and healthcare of the family. In addition bees will also help polination of the fields and fruit trees which will also help the farmers.

Long-Term Impact

The long term effects of equipping 20 women with 5 beehiveswill be - better education for 80 children - better health care for 20 families - increase yield for the fields and for the fruit trees (Mango, shea trees, nere, cashew nut trees)
