The women of the Egg Cooperative are working on Phase 2 of the project -- readying the second hen house to receive a new batch of hens!
They are in the process of updating the renovation costs --- and they need to replace some old food and water distributors due to the inability to get replacement parts.
The women have learned alot over the past 11 months, They are caring very well for the hens they have, who are still laying eggs 95% of the time! They have great support from the farm that sold them the hens, which has helped them alot in gaining experience without losing hens.
They have also learned the necessary paperwork to control their business, part of being an owner and not just an employee.
Stay tuned and we will let you know when that second hen house is receiving the new hens.
And, not too long afterwards the women will be selling the hens from the first hen house (for soup...) and replacing them as well.
Your investment purchases the hens to start or enlarge the flock, but the women take it from there.
Please consider donating to purchase a few hens as we enter the "Little by Little" Campaign.
Thank you
Caryn Maxim, Director
