Recently, our team reached an exciting milestone: the launch of the second season of From the Ground Up, InSight Crime's investigative podcast. Since July 23, we have been releasing one new episode each week, bringing deeply reported stories from across Latin America to listeners around the world. This season features five episodes in total—two from Ecuador and one each from Peru, Colombia, and Mexico—each exploring how organized crime affects people's lives in very different contexts.
A major achievement this season is that every episode is available in both English and Spanish, allowing us to reach a broader and more diverse audience. We also partnered with media outlets and organizations across the region that are helping us share the podcast with new listeners. Together, these collaborations are expanding the reach of the voices featured in our reporting.
Every episode begins with field reporting. Our journalists spend time in affected communities, listening to people whose experiences often go unheard. Through their stories, listeners gain a deeper understanding of issues such as extortion, forced disappearances, and human trafficking—not as abstract criminal trends, but as realities that shape everyday life. By combining rigorous investigative journalism with personal testimony, we hope to build greater awareness among policymakers, researchers, journalists, and the public about the human impact of organized crime.
This season reflects years of learning and investment in audio storytelling, and we hope it will not be our last. Your support makes it possible for us to continue traveling, reporting from the field, and producing independent journalism that connects local voices with audiences who can help drive informed conversations and meaningful change. Thank you for your support.
