Help Ngao Secure Land for Children to Call Home

It has been almost a year since we embarked on the "Help Ngao Secure Land for Children to Call Home" campaign, and we are incredibly grateful for your continued support and belief in our mission. Your generosity has enabled us to raise $31,000 towards the purchase of land where children can find a safe and nurturing environment to grow, play, and thrive.

While we have made significant progress, we are not yet at our goal. We still need to raise the full amount of $170,000 to secure the land that will become a cornerstone for positive change in the lives of countless children. In our previous report, we shared that we had identified a piece of land that seemed perfect for our needs. Despite it still being available, the price remains high. However, we have since located another piece of land that is more affordable, costing $170,000, and it holds the same potential to serve our purpose, with room to expand if necessary.

Your contributions are making a transformative impact. This land will become a foundation for hope and stability, made possible by your kindness. We are at a critical juncture in this journey, and we need your support now more than ever. The current location of our operations is a leased property, and we face enormous challenges due to frequent electricity disconnections caused by the failure of multiple landlords to pay their bills on time. This disrupts our ability to provide clean and safe drinking water to hospitals and the community, putting vulnerable lives at risk.

Securing this land is not just about purchasing property; it’s about establishing a lasting legacy of compassion and community building through the Ngao Foundation's dedicated work. Our WASH program ensures that the community has access to clean and safe drinking water and provides education on the importance of this vital resource. With your help, we can secure a place where children can simply be children—where they can play, eat, learn, and feel safe. Additionally, we will continue to offer scholarships to children who face challenges in accessing education, empowering them to achieve their full potential.

Help Ngao Secure a Home for Children in Kangemi

Since late last year, The Ngao Foundation has been actively engaged in a fundraising campaign aimed at securing a permanent space for children in Kangemi. This endeavor has been a journey of learning, collaboration, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of the community's most vulnerable members. Through the generous support of friends, benefactors, and well-wishers like you, significant progress has been made towards achieving this important goal.

To date, The Ngao Foundation has successfully raised a total of $32,056.16 for the "Home for Hope" project. This includes $7,056.16 raised through efforts on the GlobalGiving Platform and an additional $25,000 contributed by friends of The Ngao Foundation. While this is a substantial achievement, there is still work to be done to reach the required total of $200,000 for the land purchase.

Out of the total amount needed, only $100,000 is required to make a deposit and secure the land. Your ongoing support is crucial in helping us meet this milestone and provide a stable and secure environment for the children in Kangemi. By securing a permanent space, we can ensure continuity of services, prevent disruption to programs, and alleviate the challenges faced by our current eight landlords, including electricity cut-offs.

We are immensely grateful for your decision to support this initiative and for the impact it will have on the lives of countless children, women, and youths in the Kangemi community. Your support has already facilitated negotiations with the landowner, providing us with additional time to raise the necessary funds and secure the property.

Ngao Foundation Fundraising Report

The Ngao Foundation extends heartfelt appreciation to all our generous donors and friends who have rallied behind our initiative to secure a safe space for children in Kangemi. Your support has been invaluable in contributing to our mission of providing a conducive environment for the growth and development of the children we serve.

Fundraising Campaign Overview:

In September 2023, a fundraising campaign was initiated to raise $150,000 to secure a suitable location for our Home for Hope project in Kangemi. The project seeks to create a safe and nurturing space for children, allowing them to thrive and enjoy their childhood.

Achievements and Contributions:

As of 1^st September 2023, we are pleased to report that our fundraising efforts have resulted in a total of $10,945. We deeply appreciate the generosity of those who have already contributed to this cause. Your commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of these children is truly commendable.

Remaining Target and Urgent Need:

While we have made progress, there is still a significant amount to raise. Currently, we need an additional $139,055 to meet our fundraising goal and proceed with the acquisition of the identified land. The urgency of the situation cannot be overstated, as the availability of the chosen land is subject to demand.

Rationale for Chosen Location:

The identified land holds strategic importance due to its proximity to our current location and its centrality to the majority of children accessing Ngao Foundation services. Furthermore, its commercial viability presents an opportunity for local fundraising stability, ultimately reducing our dependency on external donors.

Challenges at Current Location:

The urgency of our relocation is underscored by the escalating challenges at our current location. Dealing with eight landlords has proven to be a significant obstacle. The defaulting in utility payments, especially electricity, directly impacts our operations, including water distribution to community households and essential support programs for children.

Way Forward and Continued Appeal:

The funds raised so far have been designated for this specific project, but we recognize that more support is needed to make a payment toward acquiring the identified land. We understand the profound impact that a secure and stable environment can have on the well-being of the children we serve.
