This project aims to empower 123 girls and young women in Tumaco, Colombia, through football. It combines psychosocial support with sports training to address critical issues such as gender-based violence, limited access to education, and social inequality in a community heavily affected by armed conflict and economic challenges.
Tumaco, Narino, faces deep-rooted social challenges driven by armed conflict, narcotics production, gender-based violence, poverty, and state neglect. These issues lead to forced displacement, limited access to education, and high unemployment rates. In this environment, young women are particularly vulnerable, as traditional gender roles restrict their opportunities, and community spaces, including sports, are heavily male-dominated. Psychosocial Support: Workshops and mentorships will focus on building confidence, promoting gender equality, and improving mental and emotional health. Themes include violence prevention, menstrual health, critical media literacy, and leadership skills, ensuring participants are better equipped to challenge harmful societal norms. Professional Sports Training: Girls and young women will receive expert coaching to improve their physical, tactical, and teamwork skills
