We are a group of young volunteers that are looking to transform lives of unprotected children who live in vulnerable situations throughout our different programs. Sonar Despierto not only changes lives of children but also from volunteers who realize they can use their abilities to make a positive impact in their community. We seek to light the fire of hope in the hearts of our kids, parents and volunteers who are a part of this big family. It's a team work and we need you to make it happen.
The indifference that exists from people towards the real situations of poverty that occur in the world is becoming more and more evident. In Mexico, 1 out of every 2 children is living in poverty and 20% of them are in extreme poverty, forcing them to go out to look for their own money and food from an early age, losing the right to live a dignified childhood. It seems that the gap between those who have the least and those who have the most will never be closed.
Each of our programs focuses on a particular childhood problem. With Vagones de Sonrisas we seek to avoid school dropouts and provide children with tools and workshops to boost their education. At Contagia Alegria we visit children in hospitals and through laughter therapy we intend to make them happy through their treatments. Cuentame tu Sueno fulfills the dreams of terminally ill children. And Amigos para Siempre has one-on-one recreational outings with children and build positive friendships.
Our goal is to ensure that our children get access to better education, to live a plenty childhood and to empower them to look after their dreams. We aim to avoid school dropout so they can have tools for their development in the future. Also, educating young volunteers through skills training, programs and events; so they have the power in their hands to make a different reality to those who come after them, the children.
