Summary

This project will allow 60 children from the poorest sections of the Boston neighborhood of Cartagena to have free breakfast before going to school. These children did not have breakfast, because their family is immersed in extreme poverty and they do not have enough resources to supply this vital food and so they cannot study properly. Through this project we want to provide 60 children with food security until December, where they can have a safe breakfast, from Monday to Friday.

Challenge

In the southeast of Cartagena, the vast majority of children grow up suffering from malnutrition and domestic and gang-related violence. The dangerous environment in which these children have grown creates a vicious circle from which few escape. Why? The severe conditions of poverty, poor access to food and nutritional opportunities, as well as the lack of education of parents and the cultural factors of domestic violence have created this serious problem. This project will solved that.

Solution

This project will provide free breakfast to 60 children, in one of the poorest places in Cartagena. The fight against hunger is our top priority, we know that hungry children cannot wait. But our goal does not stop there. Because guaranteeing food for children, we will get them to get to schools with more energy and physically prepared to study, thereby reducing their exposure to threats of recurrent violence and crime in this area of the city

Long-Term Impact

Long Term Impact: 60 Children with food security until December 2019, 60 Children with adequate nutrition and excellent nutritional status. 60 Children promoting values and good treatment in the community in general. 60 Children living in protective environments characterized by good intra-family relationships.
