It's been a busy quatter for WHPCA hosting an advocacy side event at the World Health Assembly, doing interventions with policy makers, and building bridges wtih others. We form a bridge to overcoming resistance to getting palliative care. We all fear serious illness and eventual demise. Our message is good news to those facing seroius illness. We can prevent unnecessary suffering not just near the end of lfie but well before hand. Families need support to care for their loved ones. Take Anahit a 68 year old with metastiac breast cancer to bone. She came to the hospital in Armenia for cancer treatment and was complaining of pain. Her doctors said she was exaggerating. We taught them to believe her but she still only got a mild pain medicine. We could have done so much more to prevent and treat her pain and suffering if quality palliative care was available... Please help us convince policy makers and professionals that palliaive care needs to be made available especially in lower income counrtes where over 80% of the unmet need exists.
