QUARTERLY ACTIVITY REPORT: FUNCOMAS (SEPTEMBER - NOVEMBER 2023)
The Community Foundation in Favor of Single Mothers and Unprotected Young People (FUNCOMAS) is pleased to present the quarterly report of its activities during the months of September, October and November of the year 2023. During this period, the foundation has continued its commitment to empower to young women of limited resources in Santo Domingo and surrounding areas, offering basic beauty courses and specialized workshops in manicure and pedicure for free.
Performed activities:
Basic Beauty Courses for Young Women:
During the quarter, FUNCOMAS held basic beauty courses aimed at young women facing economic difficulties. These courses covered a variety of essential skills, including skin care, basic makeup, and hair styling techniques. The main objective was to provide participants with the necessary tools to improve their self-esteem and facilitate obtaining employment in the beauty industry.
Specialized Workshop on Manicure and Pedicure:
FUNCOMAS held a specialized workshop on manicure and pedicure, giving participating women the opportunity to acquire specific skills in nail care. This workshop included hands-on practices, theoretical teaching, and the use of quality products and techniques. The purpose was not only to provide technical knowledge, but also to promote the entrepreneurial spirit among the beneficiaries.
Social Impact:
These initiatives have had a significant impact on the lives of the women beneficiaries and their communities. An increase in the self-confidence and professional skills of the participants has been observed, allowing them to access job opportunities and improve their economic situation. Additionally, specialized training in manicure and pedicure has sparked entrepreneurial interest in many women, offering them the opportunity to start small businesses from the comfort of their homes.
Community Participation:
The community response has been positive, with growing interest and participation in the activities offered by FUNCOMAS. The foundation has established strong connections with local institutions and beauty businesses that have expressed their support and willingness to collaborate on future initiatives.
Challenges and Future Perspectives: Although we have experienced notable successes, FUNCOMAS recognizes the importance of continually addressing the challenges faced by women in vulnerable situations. The foundation is committed to expanding its educational programs and exploring new areas of training that respond to the changing needs of the community.
