Introduction:
During the second quarter of 2023, the Community Foundation for Single Mothers and Unprotected Youth (FUNCOMAS) has carried out various professional technical courses and online activities. These efforts seek to empower women in vulnerable situations, giving them the opportunity to acquire technical skills in areas such as beauty. In addition, during the same period, the Foundation has worked on initiatives related to the environment, health and food support, in collaboration with other local organizations and donors.
Development:
In the course of these last 4 months, FUNCOMAS has given technical courses related to beauty, such as makeup, painted eyebrows, elaborate hairstyles, nail painting, manicures and pedicures. These courses are held from Tuesday to Saturday, both in the morning and in the afternoon, to facilitate the participation of those interested. Likewise, online activities have been implemented to complement technical training and favor flexible schedules for the students.
During the fourth quarter of the year, the Foundation has focused its attention on promoting gender equality and the empowerment of vulnerable women. Specific workshops have been held with the mission of providing guidance and support so that these women can demand their rights and lead a dignified life in their homes. In addition, conversation spaces have been provided with expert psychologists on gender issues, in order to provide them with comprehensive support.
In the environmental sphere, FUNCOMAS has collaborated with other local organizations and groups, such as the Fundación FUNDXUB, Juventud, Adolescence and Infancia, and the Neighborhood Council, in various activities aimed at caring for the environment and beautifying the parks. One of the initiatives has been the "Botella Hablan y Rodan" project, which consists of using recyclable bottles to beautify the southern viewpoint and keep it clean of garbage. These actions seek to maintain a clean and attractive park for the enjoyment of the community.
On the other hand, the Foundation has extended its social commitment through food deliveries to low-income families, in response to the growing need for food support. FUNCOMAS has worked hand in hand with local organizations and donors to collect and distribute nutritious food, ensuring that these families have access to adequate food.
