Quarterly Report of the Community Foundation in Favor of Single Mothers and Unprotected Youth (FUNCOMAS)
Period: January 1, 2023 - March 31, 2023
Executive Summary:
During the first quarter of 2023, the Community Foundation in Favor of Single Mothers and Desprotected Youth (FUNCOMAS) carried out various activities in line with its mission to support and empower women in vulnerable situations. The actions carried out in commemoration of International Women's Day were highlighted, which included free beauty services, distribution of baskets of food products for the home, and conversations with expert psychologists on sexual orientation, couples, and maternity.
International Women's Day Activities:
In honor of International Women's Day, FUNCOMAS organized a series of activities aimed at celebrating the achievements of women and providing them with services and support. The activities carried out and the results obtained are detailed below:
Free beauty services: A total of 80 women in vulnerable situations received free beauty services at our facilities. These services included haircuts, makeup, manicures, and pedicures. The objective of this activity was to provide them with a moment of personal care and self-esteem, thus contributing to improving their emotional well-being and self-confidence.
Distribution of baskets of food products: In partnership with local supermarkets and donor companies, FUNCOMAS delivered a total of 65 baskets of food products to women in vulnerable situations. These baskets contained basic food items and household necessities, providing vital support to these women and their families.
Conversations on orientation in sexuality, couples and maternity: FUNCOMAS organized five online conversations with the participation of psychologists who are experts in the topics of sexuality, couples and maternity. These meetings provided a safe and confidential space for women to express their concerns, receive professional guidance and share experiences with other women in similar situations. The topics covered included the importance of sexual education, the strengthening of healthy relationships and the balance between motherhood and personal development.
Impact and Conclusions:
The activities carried out on the occasion of International Women's Day had a significant impact on the lives of the beneficiary women. An increase in the self-esteem and confidence of the participants who received the free beauty services could be observed. Likewise, the distribution of baskets of food products provided relief to families in vulnerable situations, ensuring that they had access to basic food and essential items for the home.
The conversations with expert psychologists provided the women with tools and knowledge to address various problems in their lives. An environment of mutual support and solidarity was generated among the participants, which encouraged the exchange of experiences and the construction of support networks among the participating women.
In general, these activities reaffirmed FUNCOMAS's commitment to provide comprehensive support to women in situations of vulnerability, promoting their empowerment and well-being. It was possible to strengthen the confidence of the beneficiaries, providing them with tools to face the challenges they face in their daily lives.
Recommendations and Future Perspectives:
Based on the results obtained and the needs identified during the activities carried out, FUNCOMAS proposes the following recommendations and future prospects:
Continue offering free beauty services: Due to the observed positive impact on women's self-esteem and emotional well-being, it is recommended to continue offering free beauty services in the future. These services can be expanded and customized according to the individual needs of the beneficiaries.
Establish strategic alliances with companies and donors: To ensure the continuous distribution of food baskets and other essentials, FUNCOMAS should seek to establish strategic alliances with companies and donors. These collaborations will make it possible to broaden the scope of the actions and guarantee a constant supply of aid to women and their families.
Organize more talks and thematic workshops: Given the relevance and interest generated by the talks on orientation in sexuality, couples and maternity, the organization of more similar events in the future is suggested. Other relevant topics can also be addressed, such as personal development, financial education and entrepreneurship, to provide women with tools ad hoc.
Critical for their growth and development.
Widen dissemination and access to activities: To maximize the impact of FUNCOMAS activities, it is necessary to broaden dissemination and access to them. This implies using different communication channels, such as social networks, local media and community associations, to reach a greater number of women in vulnerable situations.
In summary, during the first quarter of 2023, FUNCOMAS carried out significant activities in commemoration of International Women's Day. Through free beauty services, distribution of baskets of food products, and conversations with experts, it was possible to provide support and empowerment to women in vulnerable situations. FUNCOMAS will continue to work in collaboration with the community and other organizations to broaden its impact and improve the lives of unprotected single mothers and young people in the future.
