In the last three months - May - July 2019, our innovative mobile rights center continued to help some of Israel's most vulnerable people access their rights and benefits. This included especially the far-flung inhabitants of Druze villages in Israel's North and other low-income groups. Among the clients we serve are the elderly and infirm (including Holocaust survivors) who are not able to access our centers themselves. That is the beauty of this project that we can drive out directly to help those people.
More than 194 people were helped over the last three months through our mobile rights center in the north alone. Of these, 49 were Holocaust survivors whom we reached out to through our "mobile health days." We held 12 of these special health days in day care centers and other places that serve older Israelis in the last three months.
Ilana's Story
Ilana (a pseudonym) from Nazareth Illit approached us with a request to help her with debts she had with the municipality. After checking in the property tax department of the municipality, it turned out that she had a debt of $2,800. Because of her difficult economic situation, we managed to get Ilana a discount of 80% discount. She was able to pay $570 spread out in a number of payments. We are also helping Ilana get into employment; she is completing vocational studies funded by the government and is on her way now to make a decent living.
Thanks to your help, we are able to offer rights and health assistance to some of Israel's most vulnerable.
