Child development continues in Elatma! THANK YOU!

By Debra Cockrell, Elena V., Anastasia S. | Diema's Dream Team

Dear Friends!

We thank you for your support of our project on Global Giving! Since the beginning of the project, 160 people have donated $15,869! With your help, the lives of children with severe mental and physical disabilities have significantly improved!

Orthopedists visit the children again
The orthopedists visit the children in Elatma Orphanage (Ryazan region) in the Verticalization Project for their checkup. It was necessary to make the planned inspection of all 14 children participating in the project. They make sure the new orthopedic products are working well and see the results of the treatment the children receive in the Federal Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise, Moscow.
As always, the children greeted us with joy and with fear at the same time - like all children, they do not like doctors!

This year, we provided new orthotics for six children. All of the children are doing well. Treatment by the FBMSE gave all the children unconditional positive dynamics. They had significantly decreased muscle spasticity, their neurological condition was better in eight children, all children continue to grow and gain weight. Now, they can walk confidently, stand, learn motor skills and develop intellectually.

Previously the children laid in their beds – now they are on the go!
Roma K. (name changed) laid in his bed all day, every day. Roma began participating in the Verticalization Project in the summer of 2011. Now he can stand confidently and walk with support, in spite of his underdeveloped muscles in his legs and well-kept body. Fortunately, the boy had no spasticity, so the removal of the casts and wearing the orthotic devices do not cause him any pain.

Anne L. (name changed) joined the project in the summer of 2013. The little girl is very smart, very well spoken and has many of the self-help skills. Personnel in orphanage saw her potential and gave her generic orthotics. Anna began to walk slowly. In the project, she was given orthotics that were made for her and now she confidently walks!

Thanks to all professionals involved in the project and to you, dear Benefactors - with your help the lives of these children are getting better! In the autumn, we will continue to care for the Elatma`s children in Moscow. You can help them to develop further by making regular donations and telling your friends about us!
