Overcoming the disease together with your help!

By Debra Cockrell, Elena V., Anastasia S. | Diema's Dream Team

Dear Friends!

We thank you for your support of our project on Global Giving! Since the beginning of the project, 148 people have donated $14,544! With your help, the lives of children with severe mental and physical disabilities have significantly improved!

Epilepsy episodes have been reduced
Gleb A. (name changed) has Down syndrome and epilepsy. He lives al his live in Orphanage 8 in Moscow. The boy's condition was very difficult in the last year – on a daily basis he experienced 7 to 15 episodes, accompanied by severe pain and loss of consciousness. He was transferred from one hospital to another, changed medications - but not getting any better.

We purchased the anticonvulsant Petnidan medication for him.
In the first days, Gleb was much better and in a couple of weeks his attacks virtually stopped! Now for the first time in many years, he lives without pain and loss of consciousness! It was only possible thanks to your donations!

Orphans from Elatma were treated in Moscow
We organized the assessment and treatment of 8 children from Elatma orphanage in the Federal Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise in Moscow.

The children were assessed by neurologists, orthopedists and other specialists. They did X-rays and conducted a variety of diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitations (physiotherapy, training in the sensory room, etc.). Some children were fitted for and received orthopedic devices. For these children to receive similar comprehensive care, not only in Elatma, but even in Moscow it is virtually impossible as there aren’t the necessary institutions or specialists.

Our doctors who have treated the children in Elatma since 2008, recommended the children should have follow up consultations on a regular basis at least 2-3 times a year. It is important as the children grow and become more active. Regular visits improve the health of children and improve the results of their work on the daily verticalization sessions.

And children liked the clinic because it’s achange of scenery, "access to people" outside the walls of the orphanage and to chat with new people - a rarity and a joy for these children!

We are grateful to all our benefactors! With your help, the children are conquering their disabilities, growing, developing and living life to the fullest!

Support them by telling all your friends!
