I'm Aleia and I've been selected as GlobalGiving's Southern Africa Field Intern for 2016! While in the field, I'll be supporting GlobalGiving's nonprofit partners working to change the world by providing them with training and resources, improving in their fundraising efforts, ensuring they are using GlobalGiving funds efficiently, and conducting workshops for organizations interested in joining GlobalGiving.
Southern Africa has an extensive and lively nonprofit sector, but minimal access to international funds often stifles growth and, in turn, the impact these nonprofits can have. In order to better serve regional nonprofit partners, GlobalGiving puts teams on the ground to provide training and support that will help these local nonprofits make a difference in the lives of children, families, and the community as a whole.
This is where you come in! Your donations will contribute to day-to-day expenses incurred while traveling over 4,000 miles to provide a highly personal, consultative experience to 40-60 nonprofit partners across Malawi, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The GlobalGiving platform continuously helps small, effective nonprofit organizations working to overcome poverty in Africa by shining a light on their work and crowdsourcing funding from an international audience.
My field work will provide valuable tools and resources as well as teach new skills to local nonprofits in the region, helping them grow their businesses and increase their impact. I'll help strengthen current relationships GlobalGiving has with these nonprofits, as well as work to establish new and beneficial partnerships in the region that will have a lasting impact for both GlobalGiving and Southern Africa.
