Project Update

By Muhammad Saddiq Ahmad | Project lead

Dear Freinds,

Iam excited to update you about this project. This project was launched in January, 2023 in order to address water shortage in remote healthcare facilities and communities with acute water shortages. This year we planned to construct 10 solar powered water supply plans across remote communities. Even though we are able to achieve one water supply plant in kabri-chana community but we are still optimistic that with your support, we are going to achieve more succdess for our communities.

We are working to ensure that more communities have access to safe and portable drinking water and for household usage. According to UNICEF, Sustainable and equitable access to safe drinking water remains a challenge in Nigeria, with over 86 per cent of Nigerians lacking access to a safely managed drinking water source. The people in rural mambilla community trek long distances to collect water from the streams which are contaminated. Most of the community relies on ponds of stagnant and stream water for household purposes such as washing, drinking and cooking etc.

The project will explore different means of water sourcing either through drilling of boreholes, wells and surface tank construction. This project will construct a solar powered water supply systems for each community by drilling boreholes and wells connected with pipes to surface tanks which will be distributed at public places where villagers can easily access for their daily usage. The community will be directly responsible for the operation and maintenance of the installed facilities.
