On 4:45pm one day, the Command & Control Centre (C&C) for Aman Ambulances received a transfer protocol call from Mother Care Hospital, Clifton. The nearest ambulance was dispatched and within 15 minutes, the ambulance AM-142 had reached the patient.
Upon reaching, the ambulance staff discovered that the patient in question was a 3 hours old baby. The newborn was in respiratory distress, and before the ambulance staff could pick up the patient to shift him to the desired hospital, the baby’s lungs collapsed. The crew immediately started CPR and Ambu bagging using the neonatal Ambu bag present in the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Aman Ambulance, and completed the medical protocol. After continuing CPR for 20 minutes, the newborn was revived.
A few days later, the patient’s attendant was contacted through a follow-up call by Aman Foundation’s Quality Assurance team. The attendant, Aqeel, confirmed that the baby is alive and currently in the NICU of Civil Hospital. “Your people are like a messiah for us”, he said.
Till date, the Aman Ambulance crew has delivered over 98 babies. With your donations, we strive to make the Aman Ambulance service exemplary, by not only providing fully equipped ambulances with trained paramedics on board, but also highly experienced Emergency Medical Dispatchers (EMDs) at the C&C following internationally recognized ProQATM* system protocols to handle situations such as these and become instrumental in saving more lives.
Thank you for your trust and for supporting Aman Ambulance. Your donations continue to help us save more lives in Pakistan.
*ProQATM is a medical priority dispatch software that directs the process of collecting vital information from the caller. The service instructs the caller with medically approved protocols until the dispatched units arrive at the scene
