On the January 30th at 04:55 AM, EMD Tayab received an emergency call in the Command & Control center. The call came from a household in Surjani Town Sector 7C experiencing a pregnancy related emergency. EMD Tayab handled the situation proficiently and efficiently taking the complete address in 35 seconds and smartly completing case entry questioning in 1 and a half minutes. After completing C.E, EMD was cleared to follow CCP-24 protocol for pregnancy related emergencies and began to complete CCP-24 questioning. As a result, he established that the patient was in critical condition suffering from severe labor pains and was about to deliver the baby at any time.
EMD expertly advised the callers to give the patient PDIs and to link to DLS link. Following the F-card, EMD gave instruction to lay the patient on her back in the center of the bed and prepare her for delivery by getting some towels and pins to wrap the baby’s if it was delivered. As the delivery process began and the baby’s head became visible, EMD advised the patient to exert firm pressure to deliver the baby. After the baby was delivered, EMD educated the attendant on how to cut the umbilical chord wrapped around the baby’s neck. He advised him not to stretch the chord tightly as it may cause harm to the baby. Successfully, the baby was breathing and crying normally. EMD advised the attendant to cover the baby’s head and to keep the baby and the mother warm. It was at that point that the Aman ambulance crew arrived and took over the patients charge.
EMD was on the call for about 16:33 minutes using his expertise and knowledge to guide the attendant professionally to make the procedure of baby deliverance smooth, easy and convenient.
