Since the war's outbreak in Ukraine, about 1,500 refugees with children have arrived in Ek. At first, they thought they had come only for a moment... but now they are thinking more seriously about living in Poland and finding a job and not just waiting for the war's end.
Thanks to the support of good people, we organize Polish language lessons for about 20 adults. For now, we run 4 hours of classes once a week, for two groups (basic level and advanced level), but when we get more funds, we will increase the frequency to 2 days a week, because the interest in lessons is high.
While mothers are learning Polish, their children are under the care of an experienced teacher who came from Ukraine and conducts art classes. It is also therapy for them because these activities allow them to forget for a moment about longing for home and dad.
We asked the participants what they thought about such activities, and they replied that they are very happy that we offer them free lessons, great help for their children, that thanks to us they can get to know each other better and make friends and have support in each other.
They are happy that they can count on our help in their new, second home, which is Poland. And we are glad that thanks to the support of people with good hearts, we can run activities for them that enable them to live with dignity.
One of the participants told us that thanks to learning Polish, she can go to the store or office more freely and without stress, understands labels in Polish, and feels more confident. Thanks to the fact that she speaks Polish better, she got a better job.

od wybuchu wojny w Ukrainie do Elku przyjechalo okolo 1500 uchodzców z dziecmi. Na poczatku mysleli, ze przyjechali tylko na chwile... teraz jednak juz mysla powazniej o zyciu w Polsce i podjeciu pracy, a nie tylko oczekiwaniu na koniec wojny.
Dzieki wsparciu dobrych ludzi organizujemy lekcje jezyka polskiego dla okolo 20 osób doroslych. Na razie prowadzimy 4 godziny zajec raz w tygodniu, dla dwóch grup (poziom podstawowy i poziom zaawansowany), ale jak zdobedziemy wiecej srodków, zwiekszymy czestotliwosc do 2 dni w tygodniu, bo zainteresowanie lekcjami jest duze.
W tym czasie, gdy mamy ucza sie polskiego, ich dzieci sa pod opieka doswiadczonej przedszkolanki, która przyjechala z Ukrainy i prowadzi zajecia artystyczne. Jest to tez dla nich terapia, bo zajecia te pozwalaja im zapomniec na chwile o tesknocie za domem i za ojcami.
Zapytalismy uczestniczki co sadza o takich zajeciach i odpowiedzialy nam, ze sa bardzo szczesliwe, ze oferujemy im bezplatne lekcje, wielka pomoc dla ich dzieci, ze dzieki nam moga sie poznac lepiej i zaprzyjaznic i miec wsparcie w sobie nawzajem.
Ciesza sie, ze w nowym, drugim domu, jakim jest Polska, moga liczyc na pomoc. A my cieszymy sie, ze dzieki wsparciu ludzi o dobrych sercach, mozemy prowadzic dla nich zajecia, ktore umozliwiaja im zycie z godnoscia.
Jedna z uczestniczek powiedziala nam, ze dzieki nauce polskiego, moze swobodniej i bez stresu chodzic do sklepu czy urzedu, rozumie polskie napisy i czuje sie pewniej. Dzieki temu, ze lepiej mowi po polsku, dostala lepsza prace.
