Since October 6, 2018 when a magnitude 5.9 earthquake hit north Haiti, Lambi Fund has been hard at work providing urgent aid to partners. Although aid was slow to arrive to those areas, staff was able to provide urgent resources such as food and water to communities. Moreover, to avoid disruption of the planting season which begins in November and December, Lambi Fund used $5,000 from its emergency funds to repair and rebuild 6 irrigation canals in north Haiti.
Irrigation canals help flow and distribute water to different farmers' gardens especially during the dry season. As of January 2019, the irrigation canals that were rebuilt or repaired helped communities plant food for consumption and for sale. The flow of water prevented farmers from missing the planting season, avoiding possible famine.
As Lambi Fund continues to provide assistance to the communities effected, we remain grateful for the constant help that partners are willing to provide. Without your help, our partners would be unable to hope and work towards a better life with reduced poverty.
Thank you for your consistent support and for providing so many with hope for a better tomorrow!
