Dear Project Supporters,
We greatly appreciate the support you have shown for students in Cameroon at the Bitame Lucia International School (BLIS), especially now throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Your support is helping to provide students and teachers with masks and soap so they can attend school safely. More than 300 children and their teachers have returned to school since their institutions were closed to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Respect for COVID-19 barrier measures is followed in the schools. The entire school was sanitized and all the teachers took a COVID -19 test before returning to school. The older students read rules and regulations to be respected by everybody in school. All the students and pupils have new rules to follow. Each class has washing points with buckets and soaps and the teachers must put a facemask and all students as well
Your support is making a difference for students in Cameroon. You can make your impact go even further by starting a monthly recurring donation here. Even a few dollars a month will go a long way. Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this ongoing project.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to email us at globalgiving@developafrica.org.
With great appreciation,
Amy & The Develop Africa Team

Dear Project Supporters,
We greatly appreciate the support you have shown for students in Cameroon at the Bitame Lucia International School (BLIS). Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, students have resumed classes with social distancing and obligatory masks to ensure everyone’s safety.
We are happy the schools have reopened and that education is slowly resuming and getting back on track.
After a review during these unprecedented times, we have decided to streamline our fundraising efforts. We have decided to phase out some project listings here on GlobalGiving - particularly the ones that have not been as successful. This will help us to be more efficient and make better use of our time.
With this in mind, we will be phasing out this project shortly.
Should you be interested in supporting another youth or education-related project here on GlobalGiving, we warmly invite you to join us in educating leaders in Sierra Leone.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to email us at globalgiving@developafrica.org.
With great appreciation,
Amy & The Develop Africa Team

Dear Project Supporters,
We greatly appreciate your continued support that is making a difference for students in Cameroon at the Bitame Lucia International School (BLIS). Amid the Covid 19 pandemic, schools resumed on June 1, 2020 in Cameroon. More than six million children are in school at the moment, but as soon as they are through with their public exams, schools will be closed for the summer and are scheduled to reopen on October 5, 2020.
The Class 6 pupils and form five students are presently going to school, respecting social distancing, with 24 students per classroom. Thanks in part to your ongoing support every student has received a face mask and hand sanitizer to help them prevent Covid 19. In addition to that, a thermoflash and hand-washing buckets are given to each class. It is required for students and teachers to wear protective masks. The Prime Minister stressed, “prevention is and remains the main weapon available to each and every one of us.”

Dear Project Supporters,
We greatly appreciate your continued support that is making a difference for students in Cameroon at the Bitame Lucia International School (BLIS). Thanks to your ongoing support several classes got to enjoy field trips these past few weeks.
The class 3 pupils got to visit ECO PARK Yaounde where they had a tour in the zoo section of the Park and learn about various species of animals and they had the opportunity to feed the fish and also enjoy a horse ride around the park. They also learned about other services offered by the Park.
The class 4 and class 5 students visited the Nsimalen International Airport, they were fascinated by the splendor of the place: the tracks of planes; the vast car parks, the presence of several security guards, and a few parked planes. They went on a guided tour of various rooms, the airport lobby, along the esplanade, and close to the tarmac at the airport borders, where a private jet took off in front of them. They thoroughly enjoyed their field trip and lesson on air travel.

Dear Project Supporters,
Your continued support of students in Cameroon is greatly appreciated. Collette Bekaku, Founder/Executive Director CAPEC Cameroon partnered with her church, the United Methodist Women Association Cameroon – UMWAC and Develop Africa to create a project called “One child, one pencil” to collect and ship school supplies to students in Cameroon.
The shipping was covered by generous donors like you. Thanks to your support, school supplies including exercise books, pen, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, rulers, bookbinders, pencil case, and school bags were shipped in drums to Cameroon. They were then distributed to 6 schools by the UMWAC and Collette. You can see more photos in this photo album of the distribution- https://developafrica.smugmug.com/Students-in-Cameroon-Receive-School-Supplies/
