Bonjou GlobalGiving Family,

We hope all is well in your world as 2024 comes to a close. In our last report, we shared with you that we were digilently raising the $14,000 needed to pay the teachers of the Saul Louis Community School in our Mountainside Partner Community their stipends. These incredible educators continued to teach for nine months without pay. Thanks to your generosity, we are happy to report we were able to raise and send the $14,000 to pay the K-9th grade teachers in October and an additional $20,000 in December to pay them their remaining stipends for the year.

Looking ahead, we are now fundraising for the next semester, from January to June 2025. However, due to Haïti's ongoing political crisis and widespread gang violence, raising funds has become increasingly difficult. In December, after thoughtful discussions with the APHD Peasant Association, we made the difficult decision together to pause 7th-9th grade classes for the 2025-2026 academic year.

APHD is currently working to secure placement for our 7th-9th graders in nearby schools. While we all had hoped to keep the students together under one roof, the realities of the current crises required this temporary adjustment. This pause will allow us time to seek new funding sources, raise the $65,000 needed annually to run the school, and address the outstanding construction debt for the school building.

Despite these challenges, our commitment to supporting the Mountainside Partner Community remains unwavering. Their resilience inspires us, as seen in the photos APHD shared of the nearly completed community-built cantine, ensuring students receive nutritious breakfasts and lunches.

Thank you for your continued support and belief in this vital work. Together, we will keep moving forward. This is Development With Dignity.
