The “Mamas” company was established in 2017 to support women in Kabiria, Kenya. Besides our support, “Project Tres”, another Non Profit organization, contributes bringing knowledge to 12 ladies. They learn crafts and using local products they handmake handbags and bracelets.
This project goes beyond learning a new skill once they can actually make profit from selling the products and contribute with basic needs like food and housing. The majority of the Mamas are mothers of our students what creates a better and straight connection with them.
During our daily activities and close personal contact, it was easy to identify the cultural struggles, family structures and personal challenges as woman’s needs. Some points like the monthly period caught our attention and it was possible to observe extra difficulties due COVID – 19 pandemic.
Help Women Independence During COVID is our initiative to address women needs and support the ones that are responsible for our babies. The goal was to raise $3000.00 to create a health fund: buy fabric pads, offer therapy sessions and help them getting the medicine needed.
The total of $1694.00 was raised at GlobalGiving platform and this is how we will invest the money:
Group therapy – 2 hours per session
12 sessions = 1200USD
Individual Kit = 4 pads = 20USD
12 Mamas = 240USD
210 USD – 6 Months supply
