It is no longer a breaking news that Nigeria is in security and economic meltdown. Consequently, there is widespread poverty in the communities making it difficult for parents to prioritize the education of girls. Girls Education Mission International is on a mission to defend, protect and promote the education of girls who experience violence and are denied chances to enroll, stay and succeed in school and beyond. The education of 10 girls in significant financial need will be supported.
The attacks on education in Nigeria are making it harder for us to persuade parents to let their children especially girls stay on at school. The shocking incidents of terrorist attacks and kidnappings of women and girls by Boko Haram most especially in the northern parts of Nigeria reminds us that getting an education is still a dangerous thing for a Nigerian girl child. Let's join hands in ensuring that 10 vulnerable girls in Nigeria have access to safe and affordable education.
Funds donated to this project will sponsor the education of 10 school girls who are at risk of dropping out. The girls will be provided with one year full scholarship including: Tuition and exam fee, Books, Mathset, Uniforms, Shoes, Bags, Socks, Sanitary towel and others. Mentors will be assigned to provide guidance and monitor the academic success of each girl.
The project will help parents keep their daughters in school without intimidation. The scholarships will attract the girls, enable them to remain in school, recognize academic achievement and promote diversity among the girls. All of these efforts ensure a higher-quality education for underprivileged girls. The scholarships will make education attainable for those girls who are in significant financial need and enable them to focus on schoolwork and learning, rather than on fear.
