Following is a report from the monk in charge of the essential oils and alternative health projects for the Tibetan Bon refugees in Dolanji, India:

I still mainly use essential oils, natural medicine, Bach flower remedies and I now start to prescribe simple homeopathic remedies, besides some allopathic medicine.

I also give simple health tips about diet and hygiene.

The patients who come to me are monks who usually have found no relief after regular allopathic treatment at Menri Dispensary and/or with Solan doctors, sometimes after several months of taking medicine.

Currently I have two regular patients:

One is a young monk (age 27) who complains of chronic headache. I prepared 8 days ago an essential oil mix (using as a base the Young Living Aroma Siez blend) to apply on his temples and around his ears. This seems to help during headaches, that are less frequent. He does not take any allopathic tablets any more. The other one, also a young monk (age 27 ?) who has complained of itching skin on his back for many years. Regular treatments did not improve his condition. I prepared several massage oil blends that we tested on his back for a few weeks, morning and evening. One blend seemed to work best and eventually the healing was so good that I could not tell, looking at his back, where the inflamed skin was located before. As I had to leave for 2 months, I handed to him two massage oil blends for him to apply. But he discontinued the treatment and when I came back to Menri I had to resume the treatment on his inflamed back skin. Hopefully it will heal perfectly in the next few weeks.

I also wanted to let you now about the lemon trees which we were able to plant with funds from the Global Giving Project. The trees have grown well, but so far the fruits are regularly picked up by people walking by. When a proper fence will be completed, lemons will be harvested for the monastery use. Fence pillars/sticks are installed but there is no fence wire yet. Still, those eating them are benefiting from the Vitamin C.
