HALO offers free veterinary care for domestic animals in rural communities bordering the Kruger Park. By vaccinating dogs we help save the lives of wild population of leopard, wild dogs and hyenas. HALO has a holding facility for animals in need of emergency treatment, HALO does outreach programs to the communities, gives free vaccinations, sterilization and provides education to the owners on animal kindness. We rely on donations only to do our work in these remote areas.
HALO offers free veterinary care to domestic animals in the rural communities around Hoedspruit, wildlife capital of South Africa. These underprivileged communities do not have veterinary facilities and there is no public transport. These remote rural communities are surrounded by (private) game reserves, where wildlife is at risk of rabies from the domestic dogs. With a HALO vehicle we can respond quicker to emergency calls and make a bigger difference for domestic animals in these communities.
The communities are all about 45 minutes to 1 hour's drive from Hoedspruit. With a dedicated HALO vehicle we can respond immediately to calls for help and reduce suffering of animals. With the dedicated vehicle we can also do more visits to the community on preventive and educational care of animals. HALO also needs funds for sterilization program, vaccinations and emergency veterinary surgeries and treatments.
With our own HALO vehicle and funds for vaccinations and treatments we will be able to improve the emotional and physical well-being of domestic animals in the rural communities around Hoedspruit. We decrease suffering of animals, will be able to help out more with emergencies, sterilisation runs and education to owners on animal kindness.
