Dear Friends,
Many poor Afghans have benefited from scholarships to attend private high schools. CHI Vice President, Dr. Sakena Yacoobi founded 4 private schools in Herat and Kabul. She also wanted to improve access to higher level university education for poor Afghans.
Most recently, there have been 15 students at university in Herat who have also had some financial aid from CHI. Two of the students are studying English, and two Mining and Geology. There is one student studying each of, psychology, political science, economics and management, religious law, Dari literature, nursing, computer science, graphic design and stomatology. Finally there is one scholarship student who is taking a Masters level course.
Nine students in Kabul attending at 7 universities have received scholarships. Three of the students are studying law and politics, and two are on a BBA course. A scholarship also went to one literature, and one engineering student
Here is one woman’s thoughts, “My name is Fariba and I am studying English Literature. I want to be a senior teacher of the English language because most Afghan people are not familiar with English. I want to teach English professionally. The scholarship given by AIL makes me happy because it is a great help to me”.
Thank you for your support helping Afghans gain a quality education.
