A refugee and displaced persons camp has been established on the outskirts of Ouagadougou, the capital city of Burkina Faso. The camp currently shelters approximately 450 individuals, including many children. These refugees have fled from the northern regions of the country to escape ongoing terrorist attacks.

Current Situation

The displaced population in the camp is in dire need of basic necessities. The primary needs include:

  • Food: Regular and nutritious meals to sustain their health and wellbeing.
  • Hygiene Measures: Essential hygiene products to maintain cleanliness and prevent the spread of diseases.
  • Clothing: Adequate clothing to protect against the elements and maintain dignity.
  • Education: Access to education for the children to ensure their continued development and to provide a sense of normalcy and hope for the future.
Objectives

The main objective of this project is to provide comprehensive support to the refugees in the camp by:

  1. Ensuring a consistent supply of food and clean water.
  2. Providing necessary hygiene products such as soap, sanitizers, and menstrual hygiene products.
  3. Distributing clothing suitable for all ages and weather conditions.
  4. Facilitating access to education for the children in the camp.
Fundraising and Resource Allocation

The project relies on fundraising efforts to gather the necessary financial resources. The funds raised will be directed to missionaries who are on the ground and capable of efficiently managing the procurement and distribution of essential items. The specific allocation of funds will be as follows:

  • Food Supplies: Purchasing staple foods, fresh produce, and clean drinking water.
  • Hygiene Products: Procuring soaps, disinfectants, sanitary pads, and other hygiene essentials.
  • Clothing: Buying clothing for all age groups, ensuring seasonal appropriateness.
  • Educational Needs: Covering costs related to school supplies, books, and potential fees for temporary educational facilities or teachers.
Implementation Plan
  1. Assessment and Planning: Conduct a thorough needs assessment to prioritize the most urgent requirements.
  2. Partnership with Missionaries: Collaborate closely with missionaries who have local knowledge and experience in humanitarian aid.
  3. Procurement of Supplies: Missionaries will utilize the funds to purchase necessary items from local markets, supporting the local economy.
  4. Distribution: Set up a structured distribution system within the camp to ensure fair and equitable access to all supplies.
  5. Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly monitor the distribution and use of supplies to ensure efficiency and address any emerging needs promptly.
Impact

The successful implementation of this project will significantly improve the living conditions of the refugees in Ouagadougou by:

  • Reducing hunger and malnutrition through regular food supplies.
  • Enhancing health and hygiene, thereby preventing disease outbreaks.
  • Providing comfort and dignity through appropriate clothing.
  • Ensuring the continuity of education for children, fostering hope and future opportunities.
We are very grateful to all our donors, organizations, and individuals to contribute generously to this cause. Your support is crucial in providing life-saving aid to those who have lost everything and are struggling to rebuild their lives. Together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of 450 displaced individuals in Ouagadougou.
