Dear Friend!
Burkina Faso is facing one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world today, fueled by escalating violence from Islamist armed groups and political instability.
Security Crisis
Since 2015, Burkina Faso has experienced increasing attacks by extremist groups such as Jama'at Nasr al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) and Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS). As of 2025, these groups
In response to the growing humanitarian crisis in northern Burkina Faso, where terrorist attacks have displaced tens of thousands, a camp has been established on the outskirts of Ouagadougou to shelter 450 individuals—primarily families with children—who have fled their homes in fear. These families have arrived with nothing. They are traumatized, vulnerable, and in urgent need of basic support: food, clean water, hygiene items, clothing, and access to education.
Needs Assessment
The majority of those in the camp are mothers with small children. They have walked for days to reach safety and are now trying to rebuild their lives from scratch. The immediate and long-term needs include:
Food and clean drinking water
Hygiene supplies (soap, sanitary pads, diapers, toothbrushes, etc.)
Clothing and shoesEducational support for the children
Medical and psychological care (where possible)
Currently, there is no formal infrastructure in place in the camp. The conditions are dire. The camp relies heaily on the support of local communities and faith-based organizations.
Implementation Plan
With funds raised through GlobalGiving, we are working in partnership with local missionaries to help the refugees.
