In South Sudan, almost two million people are on the run. A similar number of people have sought refuge in neighbouring countries.
Akul Pioth* is one of the millions of refugees. The young mother has three children. After an attack on her village by a local armed group, she lost almost all of her belongings. On the two-day march to the refugee camp in the town of Wau, her youngest child Arou Wol* got very ill.
Through the help of the Johanniter, a member organization of the alliance Aktion Deutschland Hilft, the mother and her son were able to find help.
Immediately, the boy was admitted and treated at the Johanniter’s stabilization centre.
After the first few days of tension and worry, Akuol was able to laugh again. Her husband registered the family with the World Food Program for food aid. Camp residents showed the family where they could get further medical care, a safe place to stay, and food.
Thank you for supporting the work of our Alliance with your donation!
