1. Introduction

This report provides an update on the progress of the Rise 4 Women's Rights: Justice & Equality, Nigeria project. Our mission is to promote gender equality, protect the rights of women and girls, strengthen access to justice, and empower women through education, leadership, economic empowerment, advocacy, and community engagement across Nigeria.

Although we did not receive external financial support during this reporting period, we remain committed to advancing this mission through our internal social enterprise, volunteer network, and ongoing community outreach.

2. Appreciation to GlobalGiving

We sincerely appreciate GlobalGiving for providing a trusted platform that enables grassroots organizations like ours to connect with compassionate supporters around the world.

Although no external donations were received during this reporting period, we remain grateful for the opportunity to share our mission globally. We are confident that future partnerships and donor support will help us expand our work in promoting women's rights, gender equality, and justice.

3. Funding Status

During this reporting period, the project did not receive any external financial donations through GlobalGiving.

Despite this, implementation continued through the support of our internal social enterprise, volunteer network, and community partners. We carried out community outreach, advocacy, awareness campaigns, and programme planning to promote women's rights, gender equality, leadership, and social inclusion.

4. Project ActivitiesWomen's Rights Advocacy

We continued advocating for the rights, dignity, and equal opportunities of women and girls through community engagement and public awareness activities. Our advocacy promotes respect, inclusion, equal participation, and the protection of women's rights within families and communities.

Community Outreach

Our volunteers engaged community members, youth groups, women leaders, faith-based organizations, and local stakeholders to promote awareness of gender equality, women's leadership, and the importance of creating safe and supportive environments for women and girls.

Women's Leadership and Economic Empowerment

Planning continued for programmes that will strengthen women's leadership capacity, entrepreneurship, vocational skills, financial literacy, and economic empowerment, enabling women to become more self-reliant and active contributors to community development.

Health and Wellbeing

Through our internal social enterprise, we continued promoting Samony Natural Nutraceutical Diet Products, nutrient-dense fortified food products, and nutrition education initiatives that contribute to the health and wellbeing of women, girls, and vulnerable households.

5. Social Enterprise Support

Our internal social enterprise remains the backbone of this initiative by providing in-kind resources, volunteer support, technical expertise, research, innovation, and operational assistance.

We also continued community outreach while integrating women's empowerment into our broader programmes on nutrition, entrepreneurship, food innovation, youth development, and sustainable livelihoods. This integrated approach enables us to address multiple barriers affecting women while building stronger and more resilient communities.

6. Estimated Impact

Despite limited financial resources, the project has continued making meaningful progress.

Community Reach

Approximately 50–80 women, girls, and community members reached through advocacy and community outreach.
Increased awareness of women's rights, gender equality, leadership, and social inclusion.
Strengthened engagement with community leaders and volunteers committed to promoting justice and equality.

Programme Development

Continued planning for women's leadership, entrepreneurship, and empowerment programmes.
Expanded collaboration with volunteers and community stakeholders.
Strengthened the foundation for future large-scale advocacy and community interventions.

7. Challenges

The absence of external funding continues to limit our ability to expand community outreach, legal awareness programmes, leadership training, vocational support, and economic empowerment opportunities for women.

Additional donor support will enable us to reach more women and girls, strengthen advocacy efforts, and provide sustainable empowerment programmes across Nigeria.

8. Prospects and Future Plans

In the coming months, we aim to:

Expand community advocacy on women's rights and gender equality.
Strengthen women's leadership and entrepreneurship programmes.
Increase vocational and livelihood opportunities for women.
Promote health, nutrition, and wellbeing through integrated community initiatives.
Build partnerships with government agencies, civil society organizations, educational institutions, and development partners to advance women's rights and equality.

We remain committed to building a Nigeria where every woman and girl can live with dignity, enjoy equal opportunities, and realize her full potential.

9. Conclusion

Although we did not receive external financial support during this reporting period, our commitment to advancing women's rights and gender equality remains unwavering.

Through our internal social enterprise, volunteer network, and community outreach, we continue laying a strong foundation for a more just, inclusive, and equitable society where women and girls can thrive.

Update on the progress report on

At the Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation (SOHF), we recognize that women are central to the development of communities and nations. Yet, in Nigeria, countless women face inequality, discrimination, and denial of basic rights, limiting their opportunities to thrive.

The “Rise 4 Women’s Rights: Justice & Equality” initiative was created to empower women, advocate for gender justice, and strengthen their voices in society. By promoting awareness, protection, and actionable support, this project aims to ensure that women are respected, heard, and given equal opportunities in every aspect of life.

Project Activities During This Period

During this reporting period, the project team has focused on planning, awareness campaigns, and community engagement in preparation for full implementation.

Key activities include:

• Conducting community consultations to identify the most pressing issues affecting women
• Engaging local leaders, women’s groups, and civil society organizations to foster collaboration
• Preparing advocacy materials, training guides, and workshops
• Raising awareness through social media and community outreach on the importance of women’s rights and equality

At this stage, no donations have yet been received specifically for this project. Despite this, the team has been actively laying the foundation to ensure impactful advocacy once funding is secured.

Challenges

The project faces several challenges, including:
• Limited funding to organize training, workshops, and community programs
• Cultural barriers that can hinder women from fully participating in advocacy activities
• Ensuring sustainable impact in communities where gender inequality is deeply rooted

Even with these challenges, the SOHF team remains dedicated to creating a safer, fairer, and more inclusive environment for women across Nigeria.

Little by Little Fundraising Campaign

We are encouraged by the ongoing Little by Little fundraising campaign, providing a chance for supporters to make a tangible impact on the lives of women across Nigeria.
Donations during this campaign, while matching funds remain, will directly support:
• Workshops and training sessions on women’s rights, leadership, and self-empowerment
• Community advocacy programs to promote justice, equality, and awareness
• Development of materials and tools to educate women and communities about legal protections and gender equality
• Monitoring and evaluation to track progress and impact of interventions

Even small contributions can go a long way, helping women access the knowledge, resources, and support needed to assert their rights and pursue equality.

Next Steps

Once funding is received, the project will:
• Launch community workshops and advocacy campaigns targeting women, families, and local leaders
• Provide legal support and guidance for women facing injustice
• Establish mentorship programs connecting women with leaders and role models
• Collect feedback and monitor program outcomes to ensure measurable impact
• Expand programs to additional communities based on lessons learned

These steps will empower women, challenge inequality, and promote justice across Nigeria.

Dear Partners and Supporters,

This quarter, we have not received any donations, but our commitment to advancing justice, equality, and empowerment for women across Nigeria remains unwavering. Women and girls continue to face systemic discrimination, gender-based violence, limited access to education, and economic inequality. It is more urgent than ever to stand for their rights and create opportunities that transform lives.

Current Status

This quarter, we focused on:

Planning and designing our major advocacy and empowerment initiatives for December and January.

Identifying communities, schools, and local partners where interventions will have the highest impact.

Developing training and awareness modules on gender equality, women’s rights, and leadership.

Preparing mentorship, skills-building, and advocacy programs for women and girls in underserved areas.

Although funding has not yet been received, we are ready to roll out impactful programs as soon as support comes in.

Looking Ahead: December/January Plans

With your support, we aim to:

Conduct community advocacy campaigns on women’s rights, gender justice, and equality.

Provide skills-building workshops for young women and girls.

Launch mentorship and leadership programs.

Organize dialogues with community leaders to strengthen women’s inclusion in decision-making.
