The Elderly in Wakiso District in Uganda need our attention, love and care. These are community members who have been neglected and abandoned. This project is aimed at providing food stuff, medical care, clothing and social and emotional support to 72 elders who have been identified. Their loved ones, that is, their children among other relatives have mostly moved to urban areas in search of greener pastures, and which is sometimes hard to get because of the hard economic times we live in.
The 72 Elderly people identified mostly crave and seek attention, medical care and proper nutritional meals. Most of them have been left abandoned by their relatives especially the children and thus end up not having any care. Most of them are 60 years and above. A good number of are all by themselves and find themselves in hopeless situations. This has negative impact on their lives which includes diseases
GivenPath foundation has a project in place to meet these challenges in terms of providing them with feeding stuff, volunteers to help in terms of social needs and counselling, and medical care. The project also provides them with clothing and other material necessities. Our volunteers also meet the challenges of loneliness that is found among the elderly citizens, since they devote some good time to spend time with them and chat.
GivenPath foundation is here to change all the hopelessness that is among the elderly members of our community. By providing feeding stuff, social services, medical care and clothing items, we bring life fulfilment not only to the elderly citizens but also to our partners who have a heart to give and ourselves. This in essence prolongs life to the 72 elderly citizens.
