PO 'Sadoqat' implements projects on healthcare and education. This project will enable residents from remote areas of Devashtich District in northern Tajikistan to access quality healthcare services. We seek to provide a pharmaceutical refrigerator, a cardiac monitor and three air conditioners to the resuscitation unit of District Central Hospital in Devashtich, Tajikistan, in order to assure the longevity of stored medication and ensure better conditions for rural patients in dire need of aid.
Tajikistan is the poorest former Soviet country. Only 7% of the country's budget is for healthcare, mostly it is used for wages to health workers. Due to a lack of infrastructure investment, rural medical facilities are in a dire state and the standard of care is extremely low. Patients from Devashtich in urgent need for care have to be transferred to the provincial capital, facing dangerous travel conditions.
The project will buy a pharmacy refrigerator, a cardiac monitor and three air conditioners to equip the resuscitation unit of the Devashtich District Central Hospital to offer a quality local alternative to distant province hospital. During consultations with local healthcare providers, these devices were highlighted, as they will improve the capacity of the hospital to save more lives.
The project will improve access of at-risk patients from rural areas to quality healthcare services. It will benefit more than 110 000 residents from remote areas of Devashtich District, who otherwise have to travel a long distance to get access to the quality medical services. Help save lives in this rural area! The management of the hospital we are planning to support committed to cover the equipment maintenance cost and we will be following up to make sure the equipment is not abandoned.
