Help Educate 1000 Students in Pakistan

Mati-ur-Rehman, is a resident of Soldier bazar, Karachi, Pakistan and is the eldest of four siblings. His economic circumstances were such that he had to leave his education after matriculation and pursue a job to support his family and make ends meet.

However, this difficult situation did not deter Mati from achieving his goals and while he continued to support his family and his siblings’ education, he was also able to pursue his DAE (Diploma for Associate Engineering) from the Government Saifee College, soon after which he took admission at Aman Tech in FWP (Fabrication, Welding & Pipework) trade to acquire technical training.

At Aman Tech, Mati-ur-Rehman acquired the technical knowledge of his trade theoretically as well as practically. Moreover, he also received soft skills training, which focused on his grooming in areas such as communication, computing and interview skills. Thus, by the time Mati graduated from Aman Tech, not only did he possess the practical knowledge of his trade but also soft skills that would further enable him to climb the success ladder.

Upon graduating from Aman Tech, Mati-ur-Rehman landed a job at EMC Pakistan (Pvt.) Limited through Aman Tech’s career placement center, that facilitates jobs for Aman Tech graduates by partnering with industry employers. Mati-ur-Rehman continues to support his family and places great emphasis on his siblings’ education and thus works diligently to help educate them. In the future, he wishes to apply for jobs in Dubai and Saudia Arabia and broaden his career horizon.

Mati-ur-Rehman’s success story is an example of how we can transform the youth of our country into economically independent positive change agents, if we collectively come forward and lend our support to them. Aman Tech is a state-of-the-art vocational training institute designed to transform the youth of Pakistan into productive members of society by teaching them both vocational and soft skills and aligning them to the needs of the local and international labor market.

Furthering Aman Tech’s vision to transform lives by providing the youth with skill and employment opportunities, a project was launched in July 2017 for people with disabilities. The aim of this inititative is to impart Vocational Training to learners including people with disabilities (hearing, speech and intellectually disabled). This is an attempt at ensuring that these individuals become self-reliant and useful members of society who can earn a respectful living. The first batch commenced in July 2017 and the second batch is expected to commence in February 2018. The training is focused on Auto Body and Paint for vehicles and combines both theoretical and demonstrative classes.

A batch of 16 students was inducted from NOWPDP and Special Olympics Pakistan. Of this batch, 4 students from NOWPDP have been successfully placed into jobs. This project is a step forward towards empowering and creating a positive change in the lives of people with disabilities in Pakistan.
