Project Update: Monitoring the Humanitarian Situation in La Guaira, Venezuela

The humanitarian situation in La Guaira, Venezuela, remains critical as search-and-rescue operations continue following the devastating twin earthquakes. Recent reports indicate that the number of fatalities has continued to rise, while thousands of people remain displaced and many communities are still struggling to access essential services such as safe water, healthcare, shelter, and sanitation. International rescue teams, UN agencies, and humanitarian organizations remain actively engaged in life-saving operations and early recovery efforts.

Although Sanash Welfare Foundation is not yet operating on the ground, we are closely monitoring the evolving situation remotely and regularly reviewing operational updates from United Nations humanitarian coordination mechanisms and other trusted emergency response partners. This ongoing monitoring helps us assess priority needs and identify opportunities where our support can add value alongside existing humanitarian efforts.

At the same time, we are in discussions with well-established local and international humanitarian organizations regarding potential partnerships to serve as our implementing partners should funding become available. We believe that working through experienced organizations already operating in Venezuela will enable humanitarian assistance to reach affected families more quickly, safely, and effectively.

In preparation for a potential response, Sanash Welfare Foundation has also begun preliminary sourcing and market assessments for 5,000 emergency hygiene kits. These kits are intended to help earthquake-affected families maintain personal hygiene and reduce the risk of disease outbreaks in temporary shelters and overcrowded communities. We are also continuing to refine our plans for mental health and psychosocial support services, recognizing that many survivors—especially children and families who have lost loved ones or their homes—will require emotional support during the recovery process.

We are sincerely grateful to everyone who has supported or shared our emergency appeal. Your generosity strengthens our preparedness and helps position us to respond rapidly once operational partnerships and funding are secured.

Together, we can help restore dignity, hope, and resilience for families recovering from this devastating disaster.
