A new girl has come to our orphanage – her name is Liza, she has parents and until recently she lived in a family. Our art therapist doesn’t know the reasons why Liza appeared in the orphanage, but she isn’t comfortable here – that is obvious. Loud sounds and noises bother her: when noises are too loud Liza covers her ears, stoops head and tries to leave the place. When she can’t leave the place – she closes her eyes and ears.
Maria - our art specialist - was afraid that Liza wouldn’t want to attend art classes, but the girl actually enjoyed it a lot – she was ready to take a brush and start painting. The reason why she reacted so well was not even the trust that she had to Maria – it’s just in the art class Liza can be alone with therapist safe from the noise and other children. The very first day of art classes Liza showed that she can paint quite well, but the next time she didn’t pay a lot of attention to the process – she preferred to discover more about the class and the art therapist. We would continue to take Liza to art classes for her to have an opportunity to have a safe place and possibility to express herself.
