Theatre classes; report on a 'Be a Santa' project

By Nastya Komar | Theatre specialist

“Shag Navstrechu” would like to thank you all for your support of the project ‘Be a Santa’. You helped 15 children to get theatre classes with our specialist.

Nastya Komar, theatre specialist of “Shag Navstrechu” teaches both individual and group classes. Theatre classes are not only exciting new experience for disabled children of the orphanage 4 in Pavlovsk, St Petersburg but also are very productive in gaining experience and new useful skills.

Our theatre specialist, uses in her program folk tales, which help to develop child’s emotional sphere, teach a child to react on different situations, what situations cause positive and which cause negative emotions. Theatre classes also help children to communicate better with each other.

Another essential benefit of this project – is building a system of values for children who have never seen an individual care and love. Tale and its reproduction teach children to love, to care about younger and to do good things (like tales teach us to do). Through a game child learns self-service skills better, sees the outside world and becomes more tolerate to him/herself and the surrounding people.

The goal of these classes is to bring a disabled child’s talent to light, to develop communicative skills, and of course, to make a difference in everyday routine in the orphanage.

Acting movement and breathing techniques are also helpful for the health of a child. This kind of therapy develops speech and ability, willingness to cooperate. Besides, you can always to have fun, catch a break and pretend to be other person for a minute. And what can be better if you want to have a little rest?

We would like to thank you once again for your care and support!
