We always like to think about the motivation. Why people choose working in a charitable organization? Why does our team take everyday train to the orphanage, tolerate the system and its difficulties? We thought that the best way to find out - is to ask our collegues and volunteers to find out. Here's the interview of Renata - our art specialist.
Why did you go into charity?
By chance. I wished to work with children.
What was your first impression from visiting an orphan home?
I haven't seen special kids before. In the orphan home, there were a lot of them. They were in beds. And I felt so sorry for all of them. As they were all alone to themselves and their loneliness. This does not seem to be a normal life. This is – a life in the bed.
What is the aim of your work, what are you doing in “Shag Navstrechu”?
I’m looking for what could be interesting for a kid. Offering some common activities. Trying to find information or game that could bring joy, could broaden the sensory experience of the kid. That could create atmosphere and space, which would be good for the kid.
Are there any kids that you like most of all, somebody are you keen on?
Ksusha K. She is like a flower with thorns. Inside – very gentle and woundable, sometimes hedgehog outside as she is protecting herself. At times, she is hiding in her own little world. However, she is approachable when you are sincere to her. She recognizes. And she is glad to me. And I am to her. I feel Ksusha, that’s why we have a good level of communication. Wearesimilar.
How did you choose «Shag Navstrechu»?
I’ve just seen a vacancy and become interested.
How long have you been working in «Shag Navstrechu»?
For 5 months.
What do you think are there any gaps in “Shag Navstrechu” activity? What are the “Shag Navstrechu” achievements, what could we be proud of?
Kids go out of the orphan home limitations. Their life becomes more active. With interesting events, emotions, impressions. Less isolation and closeness. More communication and possibilities. I think, “Shag Navstrechu” made a lot for that.
