Renata, our new art-therapist, joined our team this year in March.
Now she is building relationships with the kids, and is learning to interact with them and make lessons more interesting.
For example, Diana really likes playing with water, and the therapist gives her opportunity to fully meet this need, and then they just draw together using different techniques.
However, not all the kids are ready to spend long hours studying and doing exercises. Ruslan, for instance, feels a lack of motivation sometimes, so he is fond of studying through playing. When the weather is nice, Renata takes all needed materials, and they go for a walk. Ruslan, as most of the kids, is living inside the process, and the result doesn’t really matter to him. So he can get interested in unusual drawing techniques: blow through a straw making blots, blow soap bubbles which leave bizarre shaped stains on paper.
We are still collecting money for orphans with developmental challenges, so they would be able to engage in creative activities, to explore themselves and the world around.
